Kafeterija Magazin 1907 is the flagship of Belgrade's popular Kafeterija chain, spread across several floors of a landmark 1907 Art Nouveau building, the former Robna Kuća Beograd department store. Alongside coffee it houses a concept store, restaurant, garden and even a barbershop, making it a major city destination. Its very high visitor volume brings a somewhat lower average rating, but the space and design are exceptional.

April is a day and night spot tucked on Zetska between Skadarlija and Cetinjska, working as a relaxed cafe by day and a lively cocktail bar with DJ sets by night. In daytime you can settle into the leafy backyard garden over well made coffee and pastries such as croissants and pain au chocolat. It is fully non smoking, still a rarity in the area, and pulls an easygoing, creative crowd.

Artist is one of central Belgrade's key destinations for filter and V60 pour-over coffee, on a small street near Terazije. It is known for meticulous brewing, handmade ceramic serveware and an intimate, quiet atmosphere. The same team runs the smaller Dušha coffee shop in Vračar.

Denada is an intimate bistro-café on the cobbled Kosančićev venac in the old town, serving breakfast and brunch with a view of historic streets. Its small menu includes shakshuka, granola and açaí bowls, French toast and Serbian breakfast plates. With only around a dozen seats, it has a personal, homey feel.

Ferdinand Knedle is a beloved dessert shop, operating since 2016, dedicated to knedle, the Serbian sweet dumpling, in both classic and inventive flavors. Fillings range from plum, apricot and apple to nutella, pistachio, caramel and savory cheese-and-ham. The tiny central shop near Knez Mihailova is a nostalgic local favorite.
