The sand beach on the Zemun side of Great War Island, reached each summer over a 345 metre pontoon bridge that the Serbian Army lays across the Danube branch from Kej oslobođenja. The bathing season typically opens on 1 July and runs to the end of August, with the bridge free to cross daily from 9am to 7pm. Lifeguards, a duty medical post, drinking water, showers and sand sports courts are set up for the season, and the Zemun municipality runs a programme of events called Leto na Lidu.
