Belgrade welcomes the New Year at midnight on 31 December with a fireworks display and festive gatherings in the city centre. Celebrations traditionally centre on Republic Square (Trg republike), the Sava Promenade at Belgrade Waterfront and the area around the Temple of Saint Sava, alongside programmes in clubs, hotels and on the river barges.
